United Nations Ecological Footprint Reduction Program

The United Nations is undergoing a major transformation within its structure under the program, which has been agreed to increase global temperatures by 1.5 degrees. According to the United Nations report “Greening the Blue Report 2020″, the UN is carrying out detailed improvements in carbon emissions, waste management, air pollution and water management in line with the net zero waste objective it has set for 2030. In line with the decision to keep the global temperature increase at 1.5 degrees, 8.3 tons of carbon emissions per capita were made in 2010, while in 2019 carbon emissions decreased to 6.5 tons per capita. Air travel accounted for 45% of this emissions, business administration accounted for 43% and other travel accounted for 12%.

According to the 2030 plan, the UN will produce 0 harmful wastes and in 2019 it produced 457 kg of waste per capita.

According to the 2030 plan, the UN will reduce harmful gas production to 0, and in 2019, 10% of its enterprises use gas-powered devices that are harmful to the ozone layer.

Finally, in 2019, an average of 49 m3 of water per person was consumed in UN units.
